• Linsley, David M., Devonian Paleontology of New York Paleontological Research Institution Special Publication No. 21 1994 ISBN 0-87710-437-9.
  Published one hundred years after James Hall's classic work, Linsley's book, based on Hall's lithographs and descriptions, remains the best document for identifying fossils from this area. The book covers mainly brachs and mollusks with some information on trilobites. The book has been out of print for many years and is nearly impossible to find. As of 2002, PRI has no immediate plans to re-publish it.
